Living in diversity
Trajectory
In the 'Living in Diversity' track, we look at two pressing urban issues on the basis of concrete cases: the housing issue and the diversity issue. Together, we will look for experimental concepts that can provide an answer to the permanent crisis of urban living and the challenge of living together in diversity. The atelier focuses on questions such as: how should cities deal socially and spatially with an increasingly diverse society? What solutions are there for the dysfunctional Ghent rental market? How can social housing companies renew their patrimony while shortening waiting lists?
In other words, the 'Living in Diversity' trajectory seizes the diversity issue to concretise reflection on the future of urban housing policy. Engaging the diversity issue and the housing issue requires rethinking housing types and urban planning models for incorporation, reinventing participation processes and citizen participation, and developing new policy instruments and management coalitions to realise widening and diversity.
