Navigating urban research and careers (EN)
contact
Understanding urban issues often requires working across disciplines and with many societal stakeholders. But navigating inter- and transdisciplinarity as a young researcher can be challenging, both while completing PhD or postdoctoral research and in building a sustainable career in the field, in or outside academia.
This new workshop series, organised by the urban studies centres of four Flemish universities, aims to offer young urban researchers opportunities to explore key challenges and new perspectives together with their peers in urban research across universities. The workshops in the series each focus on a different theme – interdisciplinary urban research, engaging with societal stakeholders, policy oriented urban research, and urban careers. Merging expertise and course materials from the four urban studies centres, they include sessions led by senior academics to present research findings and share personal experiences, as well as participatory workshops and peer exchange sessions.
Target group
Applications for each workshop are open to PhD, junior and postdoctoral urban researchers in any discipline. We aim for a balanced representation of researchers from across the participating universities at each workshop. While applications are open separately for each workshop, participants are more than welcome to subsequently apply for any or all other workshops in the series.
