The video project was conceived by students within the Special Topic in Urban Analysis coordinated by Michiel Dehaene and Elke Dhaenens together with Claudia Faraone as visiting professor at Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of Ghent University. The title of the assignment was “Moving public spaces. Tracing changing patterns of use in the southern urban fringe of Gent”. In this special topic two subjects intersected: changing patterns of use of public space in the Twentieth century fringe of Ghent, and more particularly within the immediate surroundings of the Campus Sterre, and the possibilities of video making in documenting use and appropriation of public space and in mapping imaginaries and perceptions of users, inhabitants and managers of these public spaces.

Summary written by Claudia Faraone, as description for the online video-compilation on YouTube.
